The Summer Milky Way over Hidden Lake
|
The bright Sagittarius arm of the Milky Way
Galaxy, in the direction of the core of the
galaxy, shines with a smokey glow over Hidden
Lake on a cool August evening. This portion of
the Milky Way shines just above the
constellation Sagittarius (in the lower center of
the image). Sagittarius is shaped like a tea-cup,
with its stars highlighted in this photo by
diffraction spikes. Light pollution near the
horizon from distant cities reflects off the calm
water.
This image combined 15 stacked 20 second
exposures taken with a Canon 60Da camera and
a 20 mm lens.
