The Sun in Hydrogen-alpha
Above is my first image using my DMK41 video camera through my Lunt 60 mm solar scope.  I stacked about 200 images each for
the surface and for the prominences, using Registax 6.  The full disc of the sun is a bit large for the camera.  Below is my first image of
the sun taken with the Lunt 60mm Ha Solar Telescope (single stack model, pressure tuned) through a Pentax K 100D camera, and
combined 5 exposures of the disc of the sun with one exposure of the prominences, using Photoshop.

Notice the filiments (dark stringy lines) on the solar disc, sunspots, and prominences around the edges.

Above is my first image using my new Canon 60Da camera through my Lunt 60 mm solar scope.  I suspect that the increased red sensitivity of the camera helps
with a dedicated H-alpha solar scope (compare to the photo taken with a digital Pentax camera at the bottom of this page).  I combined just two bracketed
exposures, one overexposed for the prominence and the other darker for the disk, and used photoshop for the combination.  The resolution is already so high
that I did not bother with a barlow, and just cropped the image.  I will try the video mode someday, and post it here after I figure out how to get the movie
format into Registax.
