The Elephant's Trunk is a dark nebula within the large hydrogen cloud classified as emission nebula IC 1396, at a distance of 2,500
light years in the constellation Cepheus.
This image combined 2 1/2 hours luminance exposures using a H-a filter with 50 minutes red and 40 minutes each of blue and green
exposures. An ST10XME camera was used through a TEC 140mm refractor with a 0.67x Astro-physics reducer at my new
observatory.
