NGC 3521 - Galaxy in Leo with Large Halo
Galaxy NGC 3521 lies at a distance of 35 million light years in the constellation Leo.  The galaxy has an unusually large hazy halo. At magnitude 9, it is as bright as
many of the galaxies included by Messier in his famous catalog.

This image combined 196 minutes of exposures through a clear filter unbinned with 49 minutes of red, 42 minutes green and 56 minutes of blue exposures binned 2
x 2.  An ST10XME camera was used through a Meade 12" LX200R and an AP reducer at the Hidden Lake Observatory.
