Monkey Nebula NGC 2174
The Monkey Nebula, also known as NGC 2174, is one of the larger emisision nebulae in Orion the Hunter.  Can you see the face of the monkey, facing to the
right?  The central 8th magnitude star actually creates a small reflection nebula component, with blue-magenta tint to the center of the nebula.  The associated
star cluster is given the designation NGC 2175. This nebula lies at a distance of 6,400 light years.

This image combined 160 minutes of H-alpha, 50 minutes of red, 50 minutes green and 90 minutes of blue exposures, all unbinned.  A QSI-583 camera was
used through a TEC 140 mm refractor.
