Nebula Sharpless 2-286 is one of a group of nebulae in the Monoceros Arc, a star forming region at a distance of 20 to 25 thousand light years. This H-II region appears to be located in the Milky Way's outer arm.
This image combined 60 minutes of red, 60 minutes green and 40 minutes of blue exposures, all unbinned. A QSI-583 camera was used through a TEC-140 refractor at the Hidden Lake Observatory. |
